ALZHEIMER’S STORE FEATURED PRODUCTS

Day and Date Clock
Wall Clock With Day & Date
Most caregivers rely on their smartphone or another digital device to tell time. Because most loved ones with Alzheimer’s and Dementia more easily remember their younger years when digital clocks didn’t exist, placing easy-to-read traditional clocks around the home that include a visual reminder of the day of the week, the time of the day, and whether it is daytime or nighttime, may help to restore structure for your loved one and relieve stress on you.

Memory Phone
Memory Phone
It’s easy to forget a phone number or have difficulty navigating the buttons. For loved ones with dementia this can often lead to frustration, confusion, and anger. Take the stress out of using the phone and allow them to simply push the picture of the person they want to call.   And best of all, the picture dial capability that eases life for your loved one does not remove the ability to dial a number conventionally should the need arise.

Twiddles Activity Muffs
Twiddles Activity Muffs
Caregivers often have difficulty finding engaging activities that are both safe and stimulating for people with dementia, especially as the disease progresses.  It is not uncommon for individuals that had been accustomed to performing activities such as knitting, typing, or playing a musical instrument prior to the onset of Alzheimer’s to have restless hands. It is also not uncommon for the individuals hands to be cold. Twiddle®s provide an engaging, entertaining and soothing way to occupy and stimulate the hands, as well as, warm them. Check out the Twiddle®Sport if you think a collage of colors and textures would engage your charge. The Twiddle®Cat is purrfect for the feline fancier.  And the Twiddle®Pup is anything but rough-rough.  He’s floppy-eared, friendly-faced, and very soft.

Therapy Dolls
“Someone to Love” Therapy Dolls
Decrease Stress and Agitation with Doll Therapy.  A 2007 study found that doll therapy could be used to increase positive behaviors and decrease negative behaviors in users and concluded that such therapy is an effective approach in caring for seniors with dementia (refer to study for details).

Not all dolls are Alzheimer’s Dolls. A proper Alzheimer’s Doll needs to be lifelike in feel and weight and have clothing that can be played with. They do not need to speak or cry.

Wandering & Safety Products
Dementia Wandering-Safety Products
Those suffering with dementia have a tendency to wander.  Six in 10 people with dementia become lost at least once.  There are a number of strategies that can be implemented to deter your loved one from wandering.  Camouflage is one such strategy.  You can make doors and doorknobs less visible by painting them the same colors as the walls.  You can transform the door into an immovable object such as a bookcase or shelving by using a self-adhering, removable, door mural, and you can cover doorknobs with a loose-fitting cover so the cover turns instead of the knob.  Another strategy is to make a path. Give your loved one a space to wander safely—a path through the living room or a route through a fenced-in backyard.  You can use visual deterrents such as a Stop Sign Banner to help structure the pathway.  You can also implement  specialized Locks.  For persons in the middle and later stages of dementia, the use of confounding door locks that have a special “trick” to open them, positioned either up high or down low (so not in a traditional position) provides an effective, but not guaranteed, means of hindering or delaying them from opening a door.  You can also install alarms.  Wire beds and doors with alarms so you will be notified if the person wanders. and for peace of mind, you can provide your loved one with the latest in tech, a GPS Locator, the next generation of Wandering and Fall Notification. It’s wearable like a watch, has a lockable clasp, an SOS button, two-way voice, and incorporates 2G/3G/4G cellular, GPS, and Bluetooth 4.0 technologies.  It allows you to define an acceptable region of travel and notifies you if that region is breached.  You can then quickly locate your loved one using a secure iPhone or Android App.
